Immortal warrior Kalen has been punishing himself for failing in protecting his chosen people for hundreds of years, shut up in a castle in Scotland. Involved with a half-Sidhe muse, he hopes to rediscover his artistic side, as he remains unaware of Leanna's dark purposes. Christine, a witch, has tracked Kalen down in the hopes of recruiting Kalen to rescue Tain, and proves to be the inspiration he has needed.

Kalen is definitely a little too overprotective, but he's very swoon-worthy, and his devotion to Christine is great to read about. The Cuclu/Leanna plot seems to drag a little long, but the introduction of Mac is a good jump-start for the story.
