“I liked the settings a lot. They seemed realistic. I also liked the
legends and the magical realism sprinkled throughout the novel.
However, I thought there were too many coincidences for the mystery
to be solved like it was.”

“It was interesting in the way the selkie legend was woven into the
past and present. Unfortunately, too many unnecessary characters
and subplots that went nowhere ruined it for me.”

“The best thing about this book was the strong sense of place it had;
I’ve been to Minneapolis and Ireland, and the author really nailed the
descriptions. The rest of the book though; the plot was too contrived.
The ending was too neatly tied up. Also, the cast was too large and none seemed very fleshed out."
