This is definitely my favourite in the series so far and I read all four one after the other.

The story begins with Johnny, the young man Cecil grew attached to in the previous book at the youth centre, having a panic attack when Cecil doesn't show. Hawk is sent to make sure he is OK at the hospital and discovers Johnny is his mate.

Johnny is one of the most adorable characters I've ever read about. He has been diagnosed as mildly retarded, abused by his brother, starved, had a drug addict as a mother and is still as innocent and sweet as they come. Hawk takes it all in stride and is wonderful with him, I practically melted reading the scene when Hawk fed Johnny and gave him a small kiss after each forkful and then Johnny did the same back. Who else would prance about in a pink, sparkly coat and boots?

Again, one of the winning factors of this series is the rest of the pack. They’re fun, protective and I can't wait for their respective stories.
