** spoiler alert ** Betsy,

You should have warned me...not that I would have
believed you. I suppose I just had to experience it
first hand, but I feel like poor Jim: "Well, looky
here, boss, dey's sumf'n wrong, dey is. Is I ME, or
who IS I? Is I heah, or whah IS I? Now dat's what I
wants to know."

If they possess a strong constitution, every lover of
Huck's adventure must read this blood curdling
portrait of his Pap; "It sure aint for sissies," or
for those who don't cotton to being haunted by one of
the most brutal depictions of man/monster in

I must admit I couldn't stop myself from listening
(took it out on CD), but for all its masterful
craftsmanship, I did miss old Samuel's good humor and
satirical wit--not a shred of the juvenile haunts the
chapters of Finn. Only the knowledge that the gruesome
tale would end with Pap's demise and with Huck in the
world unscathed (unless that bastard Judge comes after
him) spirited me on. Thank God, Clinch saw fit to
render how Pap met his maker with such poetic justice.
If curiosity killed this cat throughout, satisfaction
sure won me over. I'm a fan.

Thanks for the lead.....I think.
