This book is a classic of American literature? Are you kidding me? This book should have been called The Paint Also Dries. It is an exceptionally dull book about a bunch of over-privileged expatriate brats wowing the reader about how awesome Europe is, and man, aren't we cool that we know Paris so well?

Most of it was simply uninteresting--the boring lives of boring people. There is the undercurrent of a love story which is about the only part worth reading, but it never really develops... it's just hinted at with no bold statements or anything...
