Kevin is driving home and gets a call from someone saying his name is Slater. Slater tells him that he is going to blow up Kevin's car in three minutes if he doesn't confess his sins to the newspapers. Kevin has no idea what sin he's supposed to confess, and he's not quite sure if he should take this guy seriously. The more he thinks about it, the more he panics, the faster he drives to get his car away from crowds of people. . .just in case. He crashes the car, jumps clear and gets everyone away, feeling very foolish if this is just a joke. But it's not. This all happens by page 11.

I have to admit that I don't usually "figure out" a book's storyline, so when I do, I'm very disappointed. Not even half-way through, I decided that I had this book figured out, especially when not even a chapter later, the characters voiced exactly what I was thinking. But then, the story kept shifting back and forth to where I had no idea if I was right or not, and I was going crazy trying to get to the end of the book to see if I was actually right. Come to find out, I was right, but I was also wrong! I kind of had the idea of where it was going, and then Mr. Dekker put another twist right at the end. Great storytelling!!! One of my favorite books of the year so far!

Beth I've only read this one book, but it was good enough for me to go buy several more of his; I just haven't read them yet. . .I'd say put him on your list (check on fantasticfiction for all of his books and see which one you'd want first). All of his books get really good reviews, too.

Beth Come back and let me know what you thought.
