Balefire is all 4 books in the series combined into one. Cate Tiernan has done it again and written a wonderful series of books. Although not AS amazing as the Sweep series, these books were still very good.

Thais and Clio were separated at birth. But, when Thais dad is killed in a freak accident she goes to live with a distant "friend" of her fathers, Axelle, who she has never even met in her entire life in New Orleans. When she starts school her and Clio discover that they are twins. Once they take this information to Clio's grandmother who she lives with they discover that they are a part of a twisted secret.

This story has so many different elements to it witchcraft, immortality, a deeply hidden secret in the ancestry, love and lies, and even a twisting turning historical story that is masterfully interwoven throughout the story. The historical piece of this story was actually my favorite aspect of this book. Each chapter is staggered between Clio, Thias, or a member of the Trieze perspective. It is interesting to read this part of the book and find out how everyone is connected to one another and what it must be like to live 242 years with such a horrible secret.

Definitely worth the read!!!
