Vic and Jacob's relationship progress had me melting until Jacob assumed something which led him to make a very desperate and heartbreaking offer. And stupid Vic did nothing! Did he tell the truth to put Jacob's fears to rest? Nope, he kept quiet and refused to accept the implications. I'm not liking Vic so much right now. Idiot.
(view spoiler)[I really hope we see Lisa again in the future despite her "breaking up" with Vic because she felt he was just using her for her si-no ability. Her being held in that facility meant that there was very limited communication between them which basically meant she was only available for emergencies. Not conducive to a healthy friendship. Disconnecting her phone was a little OTT though. Perhaps Vic's paranoia is rubbing off on me but could something suspicious be going on there, Camp Hell-style? (hide spoiler)]
Side Note: Despite Many Happy Returns and Mind Reader being listed on here as coming before Body & Soul I'm certain they take place after the events in this book, however I doubt I would've been able to pick out the references to these short stories if I'd read them after instead of before.
||1.0%||"Thanksgiving with Jacob's family! And grandma's giving Vic the evil eye."|
||4.0%||"Vic is seeing the ghost of Leon's amputated arm still attached to his body and moving like it's alive and real. Sooooo weird." 4 comments|
||11.0%||"It's like Jacob's brought Vic to Show & Tell the way his family are flinging questions at him about his abilities. Stealing from Al Capone was a good suggestion though. It's a shame Vic has some morals about that."|
"Do you like sports?" Jerry called to me from the living room.
"Good. 'Cos we don't watch the Bears in this house unless they're getting their asses handed to them by the Packers."
"Don't go for the obvious gay joke," Jacob whispered, smirking. "Football is sacred here.""
||17.0%||"God, I hate confrontation. I steeled myself for the tirade that was sure to come. The one where I was a drug addict, a shitty cop, and a miserable excuse for a human being. *hugs*"|
""You a priest?" he demanded.
"My grandmother says you're a priest."
I felt my cheeks color, imagining Jacob ramming me over the kitchen counter. "No, I'm not a priest."
||35.0%||"I'm thinking Many Happy Returns and Mind Reader actually set after this book instead of before but I'm not sure I would've picked up on the references if I'd read them after this. Hmm."|
||35.0%||"Worried about Lisa. Despite the si-no Vic was still her friend when she had no one else. Not his fault she's been secured away and is only available for emergencies...which are most likely going to involve her gift, duh. Breaking up is one thing, disconnecting her phone is another. Something's gotta be going on there. Hello, Camp Hell. Maybe I'm just being paranoid."|
||44.0%||"No, no, no! Say something, damn it! Don't leave Jacob hanging like that and suspecting the worst. Tell the truth!"|
||100.0%||"Turned the page and no more text. Nooooo! How can it end without Vic telling Jacob the truth?!"|
