Jane Eyre seorang yatim piatu yang mengalami penganiayaan baik di rumah bibinya, setelah ibunya meninggal, juga di sekolah. Pengalaman itu membentuknya menjadi orang yang kaku dan datar.

Akhirnya Jane mencoba peruntungan bekerja di tempat Mr. Rochester menjadi pengasuh anak perempuannya, Adele. Mr. Rochester pun terpikat dan jatuh cinta dengan Jane Eyre dan mengajak Jane menikah. Namun kebahagian itu berubah saat Jane mengetahui rahasia terbesar yang ditutup-tutupi Mr. Rochester selama ini.

Jane Eyre, roman klasik abad sembilan belas. Charlotte Brontë (1816-1855), bersama dua adik perempuannya, Emily dan Anne, dikenal sebagai trio penyair dan novelis wanita yang mempunyai pengaruh besar dalam dunia sastra Inggris.

Novel klasik ini tak menggambarkan adegan romantis fisik. Namun menceritakan cinta sejati tanpa syarat, yang melampaui batas-batas adat, kebiasaan, dan pandangan yang dibuat manusia.
