For some, these books might run together. They have the same basic premise--some impending evil is going to destroy the world--and similar solutions--Skulduggery and Valkyrie save the world. However, I enjoy the characters so much with their witty banter and astounding intelligence, that I welcome as many Skulduggery books as Landy wants to write.

In this book, some unknown sorcerer is trying to resurrect 'the Faceless Ones,' a group of powerful gods intent on destroying the world. As they work to find the plot leader and save the world, Skulduggery and Valkyrie (along with other unique friends) face lots of danger and even more dark magic. The subject is dark, but Landy's great characters and marvelous humor make for a fun read.
