Well, this is a new sort of investigation for Dallas and crew. Peabody overhears two cops having an argument. And it quickly become obvious that they are crooked cops. Peabody, natch, takes her concerns to Dallas and we are off! Pity the poor, misguided 'dirty' cop who takes on Dallas--they stand no chance what so ever!
Of course the investigation is fraught with problems, but Dallas and crew soldier on. Taking down a 'wrong cop' is worth the effort.
The dialog is worth the price of the book, in and of itself. Oh, and there's a surprise romance that breaks out with two minor characters; and that's fun.
Not one of the top "In Death" books--but still a very good outing.
