Ellie has the worst luck in the world. She was stalked and nearly killed when she was eleven years old. After that debacle she was put into hiding and lived with a new family. When she grew up she got engaged and brought the boy home to meet her family. She found her fiancee sleeping with her sister the next night. Now she has become a witness to a attempted murder of an FBI agent by two wanted criminals who are known to do anything to keep their witnesses silent.

The night the Sean (FBI agent) was shot Ellie was running the track after a long shift at the hospital. She is a described as being gorgeous, and extremely talented surgeon. She see's the couple fleeing from the FBI agent and witnesses the agent being shot but she knows that she didn't see either of them clear enough to identify. After operating on the agent Ellie meets Max. Another FBI agent assigned to the case and he has come to get her statement. There is an instant attraction between the two of them. But Ellie knows she can't get attached because Max lives very far away. After not being able to pick out either of the culprits Ellie is free to go and she believes everything is over.

That is until Max shows up at her family's house saying that she might be in danger. Ellie is home because she is being forced to attend the wedding of her sister and her ex-fiancee. Max has now become her plus one, and with this chance to see him again will she take a chance with him and not have the regret of never being with him like she did before? And will Max be able to protect Ellie from these criminals that may want to hurt her and her stalker Evan at the same time?

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was extremely well written and had all range of emotions throughout the book. Ellie was an amazing character she was so strong and honest with her feelings. Even after everything that had happened to her she was brave and determined to find a away to not let Evan rule her decisions anymore. Max was also an amazing character. I found him to be extremely funny which was unexpected. He was very naive about his feelings for Ellie and you could tell he had no idea about what to do about it, it was very amusing seeing him discover exactly how much he cared about her.

I also like the side story of Annie one of Ellie's sister. She was so nice and I really wanted everything to work out for her. On the other hand Ava Ellie's other sister I wanted nothing to work out for. She was selfish and very self-absorbed, I really wanted something terrible to happen to her like being left at the altar. She was just a terrible human being. I enjoyed Ellie's father he was funny with all of his "deals" that he found. The supporting characters really helped make the story, they provided insight into the main characters and really helped some plot lines develop. I will definitely start reading more of Julie Garwood in the future!
