Although this is book 9 of the series, it was my first foray into the undead world of MaryJanice Davidson. I have to say, she twists an interesting yarn, but I found Betsy, the main character annoyingly self centered and the writing to be only mediocre. I'd love to read the other books to get the background on some of the things that happened in this book, but I don't think I could take nine books of the simpleton writing. Too bad; I like to delve into a good series.
I gave it two stars for the interesting plot, but only two because of the lack of quality writing.
