Book 1 in The Virgil Cole/Everett Hitch Western Novels. I really enjoyed the whole series but I'm sure it's not for everyone. I like the old fashioned values Virgil and Everett display like loyalty, trying to be on the right side of things and the courage to stay with their convictions no matter the cost to themselves. I can't get enough of these characters but the author, Robert Parker passed away not long after righting the Blue Eyed Devil, the fourth book in the series. If you like your lead character tough as nails, take no-crap sorts then give it a try.
