Wilbur is an exception to the naked mole rat rule--he likes to get dressed. He likes to express himself. He is an individual.

Wilbur loves clothes so much that he opens a store. This is a difficult sell when the rest of the naked mole rats are so set on going naked. (One selling point Wilbur unsuccessfully tries is that clothes are "WARMER!"). Not only is his business failing, but the other naked mole rats are so upset by his ant-social behavior, they take the case to Grand-pah (the oldest, greatest, and most naked naked mole rat ever).

After his grand-proclamation, the naked mole rat community gains some newfound tolerance, and Wilbur gets a new slogan for his store (Clothes, Why Not?).

Mo Willems is original and fresh. Although this conflict may not be particularly unique, a fashionista naked mole rat certainly is. Themes of self-expression, trying new things, and individualism could make for deeper discussions from this comedic story.
