in addition to the great short stories here, the introduction (written by mark vonnegut) gives great insight into kurt as a human being. as always, i had a great time reading kurt's work, but still feel like i'm being robbed now that there's one less KV book to look forward to reading. not sure i'll ever be able to stop thinking of him as the greatest LIVING american writer. still, if his estate is going to continue to publish his previously uncollected short works, i might actually be outpaced. knowing KV's meticulous writing/re-writing methods, i can't help but think he'd be horrified that stories he might not have had finished were being ready by his fans. maybe he should've used fire.
