School did a reasonable job of educating me (or so I think, lol) but I'm not sure that I appreciated at the time how many great books it introduced me to. LotF is a powerful tale of how easily people turn on each other when things go wrong. I always think of LotF and "Animal Farm" to be companion pieces, as abuse of power by those not normally used to having any authority (kids and animals) is a theme central to both. Like many classics I discovered at school, I'm sure I'll read it again.
