This had SO much promise. I was so jealous 'cause I thought, "Damnit! Someone wrote the loser vampire story before me." Turns out, it can be done better.

The major problem I had was this felt like a few different books kind of smashed poorly together, and none fleshed fully out. The story started out fine but quickly veered off in a massive 180 with Doug's character (from decent guy to total f-wad with no real explanation) as well as in random, stupid directions that were never wrapped up. The vampire hunters ... what in the hell was the point? Except to invoke "True Blood" traces? Because it seemed a blatant ripoff.

I did like the idea of the ending. And there was some fantastic satire. But overall, this was just a miss for me.
