Another great tale by Gary D. Schmidt. A version of Rumpelstiltskin, but in the prologue, the reader learns that the miller's daughter does not guess his name and her first-born is taken away. The story resumes some years later with a young boy and his "Da", whom the reader will recognize as Rumpelstiltskin. But is the boy the missing prince? On his first trip into town, he runs into trouble by challenging the king and must solve a riddle to save his life and the life of a blind boy, Innes. They seek out the banished queen and by relying on one another, solve the riddle and the mystery of the missing prince. Spoiler alert: happy ending ahead!
