First I must say I enjoyed this view on a futuristic/post apocalyptic world, though mostly I tend to avoid stories with angels or religious speculation. I found the writing over descriptive in places which I found distracting. The world was complicated and a little disjointed - it didn't help that there was little or no explanations about why certain things were possible or the motivations of the characters. I was disappointed that we didn't learn more about the supporting characters some of which the plot revolved around.
I'm hoping the writing will flow better in book 2 and that we can get to know some of the other characters introduced.
