Read from March 15 to 18, 2011

This is solidly written high fantasy -- achingly beautiful at times, horrifying at others, and thoroughly entertaining at every step of the way. With that said, it does suffer from a certain slowness of pacing and a definite lack of answers (but more questions), both problems that often plague middle novels in a series. Still, it's a fabulous tale and one I'll find myself entertained by more than once in the coming years. Let's hope Rothfuss doesn't take quite so long to produce volume 3.

38.0% "This is a huge book, and while it's moving along somewhat slowly, I don't care at all because I am completely immersed in this tale. Rothfuss writes like a dream, and it has been ages since high fantasy has pulled me in so completely."
