First off, I should say that I love Kresley Cole and the Immortals after Dark series. While I like some of the books in the series more than others, this one was my favorite. Cole gives us a very strong and committed hero and heroine, and they work to overcome all the obstacles in their way without giving up who they are individually. I've found that too often romance authors have a strong female immediately falling into the arms of the male -- even when they've remained chaste or independent, within 5 mins of meeting some tortured soul hero, they give it up. In this case, Lucia has a very real need to remain chaste and she spends a lot of the book fighting with Garreth because of it. She suffers for the greater good and knows that her own passions aren't enough to destroy the world (which is what she thinks would happen if she lost her powers). Some people may complain that Lucia was too hard and not likable as a character, but often those same people have the same complaint that I do -- that the women give in too easily. I think Cole found the perfect balance in the book.

Plus, I love the Scottish accents in the book. I love all her books where the Lykae are central figures because of it.
