First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1)

Third-person narrative takes some getting used to since the other books in the series are told from the main character's perspective. But, so far, so good.
I think the narrative perspective shift was necessary to encompass the various character's points of view, but the shifting also made it harder to connect with the characters. I was too used to hearing the stories told from a character's first person "Here's what's happening to me" perspective.
All in all, still a worthwhile read. I don't go into these books expecting my brain patterns to be radically altered in any way. I want a fun, dramatic, sometimes violent tale told to distract me from the everyday and be as far removed from the reading I do for work as paranormally possible. To those ends, I got what I wanted.

I hear you on fun, dramatic, and violent being a perversely good distraction to regular life. Gold help us!
