it was amazing

I get into phases when I want to read as much as I possibly can about a historical subject. Right now I'm going through a Cold War phase. What better place to start than the Cuban Missile Crisis?

Author Michael Dobbs did an amazing job with his research in writing this book. It reads like a page-turning spy novel but I had to constantly remind myself that this was all very real. If it weren't for a couple of cool heads - Kennedy and Khrushchev - the world today could be a very different place.

Much of the story surrounding this crisis is false and amounts to no more than the political grandstanding leftover from the days of these events. But there is so much more to the story...

This is an excellent, well-written historical work and I recommend it very highly.
