If you don't like to be disturbed, do not read this book.

If you can't accept feeling uncomfortable, do not read this book.

If you can't separate quality writing from unpleasant content matter, do not read this book.

I am not saying these things to be condescending. I am saying these things because this is a disturbing and upsetting book, and you know what? Sometimes people are just not feeling up to that, no matter how well-written and interesting it might be.

I wouldn't say that I "loved" this book, or that I found it "enjoyable," but it was absolutely riveting, and I couldn't put it down. I can't believe this woman actually grew into a well-adjusted person.
