If you ever wondered what the difference between a novel and a romance was then you should read this book. Poor Arabella lives in a world populated by characters and incidents from her extensive reading of romances. The book is a saga of all the misunderstandings and misadventures that arise because of her 'romantic' views. The absurdities of those romances are highlighted and underlined so clearly that the reader can appreciate the reason the novel rose in popularity - but will Arabella come to a realisation of her naivety in believing that they represent real life in her own time?? Lots of laughs.
