I read this for a book group. Apparently it is one of Card's more successful books, but it wasn't one of my favorites.

At some distant point in the future, a group of scientists have the ability to watch history evolve through a machine called TruSite II. When they discover that they can actually alter past events, changing the course of history, they decide to redeem their dying world by changing the outcome of Columbus's discovery of the Americas. Three Pastwatch scientists are sent back in time to prepare Native Americans to meet Columbus's expedition.

Card's extensive research into the life of Columbus made that part of the book interesting, but I just couldn't get into the rest of the story.
