This book kind of made me mad. It's completely fluff. Clara has too easy a time fitting in with her new environment, Lorraine has too easy a time stealing her parents' liquor, and Jerome has too easy a time wooing Gloria. All through the book people seem to figure things out too easily. Most of the characters are flat and uninteresting. But it ends on a cliffhanger that made me want to at least flip through the second volume in the series to see what happens. It made me mad because I HATE gimmicks like that. I didn't like the book, but now I will probably give the second book a chance because of that cliffhanger. My favorite series are those that resolve the conflicts in each volume, and then I can read the next one in the series based on the fact that I liked the others, rather than being manipulated into reading further. If I don't feel like the second book is an improvement on the first then I won't read the third, cliffhanger or no.
