it was amazing
Read from July 11 to August 12, 2011

Loved it. After reading Age of Innocence several months ago, I longed to be transported back to New York at the end of the 19th Century. It was exactly what I wanted to read. Utterly transporting, amazing writing, spot-on assessments of gender roles and social stratification. Transfixing and devasting, so basically my idea of a perfect period piece.
