John Scalzi does a phenomenal job of telling H. Beam Piper's story with modern sensibility and craftsmanship. Scalzi clearly had a whale of a lot of fun writing this, and it shows. He makes it all look so easy. (It's not. It's really not.)

This is a throwback kind of science fiction story. Bravo, John.

Matt Burris Spot-on review and mirrors my own thoughts. It was such a fun read that my only disappointment was how quick it was to read the whole book. I love Scalzi's sense of humor and sarcasm in his main characters, as well.

He really does make it seem so easy, doesn't he? Lucky bastard.
