I really liked the historical feel to the story. Some historical books I read now days really don’t capture the way it really was at that time period. I could get past the rape because it wasn’t that bad. My biggest beef with this book was just the way Brandon treated Heather after the fact. She left him for goodness sake and didn’t want him back, she was fine until her aunt found out she is prego. So Brandon is made to fess up and marry Heather. Then he in turns blames Heather for roping him in to marriage and treats her no better than a servant ugh… She had nothing to freaking to do with it all, again she didn’t want him UGH…..I felt for Heather the whole time. He does love her just doesn’t show it in the right way until almost the end of the book. I suggest you read quite a few reviews before trying this book, good and bad.
