Robin How can a book that takes place in the ex-pat writer's world of Paris in the 20s be so very uninteresting, with characters so dull even terrible television seems more desirable? You should know I have baled on this one and now must add a 'DNF' shelf.

There a very few other topics I find more interesting that Paris of the Lost Generation, the Fitzgeralds, Stein, Pound, etc. Unfortunately hearing them through Hadley's eyes and voice made me lose the will to live. I found her so terribly uninteresting and miserable and kept thinking no wonder Hemingway had affairs, which made my feminist heart cringe.

Someone else will love this book. I find life just too short to spend with characters this dull. So, no, I can't recommend it...
