This book was much better than I expected. Having had an interest in nutrition for quite a few years, it's fairly rare that I actually get some new information, as opposed to the same old nutritional information repackaged. There is a lot of useful advice in here, but the best part is that it is so well researched and cited. I especially liked the section that discussed many popular nutritional fads today.

The one thing I did not like about this book is that the author assumes that everyone reading it must be obese. He is constantly saying things like: "After you have lost about twenty-five pounds, you will feel like exercising more." Actually, I doubt that reducing my weight to 80 pounds would cause me to feel like exercising more. He needs to realize that not everyone is seriously overweight, and that people of healthy weights can take an interest in nutrition too.

That being said, I think almost anyone could stand to benefit by reading this book. And I like that he doesn't talk down to the reader as badly as most books on this topic do by oversimplifying things excessively and dumbing down vocabulary.
