The Rangers Apprentice series is the first series that I have read by John Flangan. I have loved this series so far and would give this book in particular five out of five stars. I thought the plot was a little bit exaggerated but it just made the story that much more interesting and exciting.
I don’t think that Flangan developed as much voice in the main character as maybe Percy Jackson from the Lightning Thief. But you could tell Will was a determined young man and when he wanted to do something he tried his best to do it.
Will is finally done with Ranger training and is own feif to look after. Right as he starts gets comfortable he gets sent on a mission by his former mentor to investigate a weird sickness that had struck a lord to the north and everybody believes is sorcery. On this mission he somehow ends up in a believed to be haunted forest with the castle lord’s son who is also poisoned and who has been kicked out of his own castle.
I really enjoyed reading this exiting fantasy. It makes you get to know people a lot more before you trust them because people may not be who they seem. This book was very good in my opinion and recommend you read it.
