I loved this book! I am a sucker for gothic romances with ghosts and they do not have to be on the bleak wild moors of England or Scotland. This one takes place in the sweltering heat of Charleston.

My husband and I spent a few days recently discovering Charleston and the area South of Broad. We love old houses, antiques, plantations, mysteries, gardens, good food and it is all here!

Ms White's descriptions of the architecture were very vivid and adding references to Thomas Elfe (the most famous of all Charleston furniture makers and a passion of my husband's was genius), I could "see" this book and was glad it was a cold night in Virginia as I do not like the heat
