The Wounded Land by Stephen R. Donaldson is a very good book if you’re a fan of fiction. The book explains the characters well and explains the surroundings of the characters well too. Sometimes the book is hard to follow with all of the strange words for the Land and all of the different events happening.
The majority of this book is set in a place called the Land which is kind of an alternate reality. The Land was a beautiful place that was full of life. Lord Foul has tried many times taking over or destroying the Land but has been stopped by the main character named Thomas Covenant. Thomas Covenant is a normal human not from the Land. He reaches the Land by losing consciousness in extreme situations like if he gets knocked out in a fight. The first time Foul tried to destroy the Land; Covenant defeated him using his white gold ring. In the Land white gold is a magical metal that can control wild magic. The people in the land believe that Covenant is one of there fallen heroes reborn. After Covenant defeated Foul he left the Land and everything was fine for 10 years.
Covenant was needed again 10 years later in our world but 4000 years later in the Land. This time Covenant is accompanied by Linden Avery, a doctor who kind of has depression issues. Covenant is captured by a cult and Linden tries to save him. They both get knocked unconscious and somehow Linden ends up in the Land with Covenant. They eventually team up with a person from the Land named Sunder who helps guide them around and help them defeat Foul.
This book is very good for readers who like fiction type books. There is a lot of action and questions that make people want to read the next books. At times it’s kind of hard to follow but if the reader pays attention then they would be able to follow it.
