The island of Albion is involved in an endless war, it started so long ago that no one remembers even why or what for.
Every now and then wardens will raise the towns to capture people to serve as soldiers or slaves.
When her town gets raided Kate discovers that the wardens have a special interest in her, something far deeper than being a slave or a soldier. Is it forgotten knowledge? Is it in her genes? Whatever it is it might give her special powers which can be dangerous for some high placed persons.
Steaming good young adult adventure, something different from vampires and zombies and yet very mysterious and unearthly.
