Arnaldur Idridison is writing about a detective that lost his brother in a storm when he was a boy. He looks for missing persons for the rest of his life. He finds a skeleton in a draining lake that has been dead for 50 plus years and goes looking for the identity. He is working with a wonderful team that are all concerned for his mental and physical health. He is helping a beautiful woman find herself and escape from a stifling relationship. He is constantly searching for his daughter, and finding her and losing her. He finds his son and get to know a little about him. He celebrates his colleague publishing a cook book. He supports his friend who tries unsuccessfully to have a baby. He commiserates with a woman who lost a fiance. He aids his mentor through his end of life battle. While he is busy being a good detective in quiet Iceland he continues to focus on this case for almost a year before finding answers.

This is good and fun and I have to slow down reading this author so I will still have some to which I can look forward.
