The worldbuilding is absolutely amazing, really, i could believe this world exists. Character wise, all is good, nobody is totally OOC just to make way for the romance - which is almost non existant in this book, its total scene setting, but works so well in this case.

There are few scenes along the way that really irked me, one in particular, but the rest of the plotting is excellent.
The 'Oirish' (Hollywood Movie/TV Irish pronunciation) is utterly dire, especially written out. I didnt know if i should find it amusing or offensive, but it gets dropped pretty quickly into it - either that or i just stopped noticing

Moving onto Bloodfever now, and hoping the worldbuilding continues!

Yes, really terrible, thankfully its not an audiobook, or i'd be cracking up at the 'Oirish' accents.

enjoying it? so far it an ok urban fantasy novel with some really good world building, but wayyyy too many rape scenes.....kinda disturbed tbh. will keep going, its not as bad as im making it sound, just still totally squicked by the museum bit.

Vicki-Michelle Oh yeah I totally get being squicked at the museum bit but that's pretty tame compared to what happens later in the series.
The audio is pretty hilarious, although they change narrators for the last two books which REALLY annoys me.
I enjoyed the sequels a lot more than this one but I agree with you about the good world building. And does the Mac/Jericho relaysh not totally remind you of Buffy/Giles ... y'know... in a porny way?
