4 stars up until Caesar dies (um, spoiler?), then it's all downhill from there. Octavius/Octavian/Caesar looks like he's going to fill the void and he was a good time while he was around but he's just not the focus enough to make it interesting. The last few hundred pages (gah!) just meandered around. Honestly, I get that you have to finish off Brutus (spoiler?) but I don't really care. I'd rather hear about Servilia sitting on a spike or something.

Not that she does. :(

(Speaking of. My dad has started reading the series and is two books in. He's already encountered her as just a little girl and was horrified that she makes it all the way to the end. Me too dad. Me too.)

Still managed to get the required two truly nasty scenes per book so that was a delight to read as well. Still, the Egyptian battles were fun to read. Maybe because I was on a plane to Texas and back and it was either read or listen to a symphony of mouth-breathers but the first half was a breeze.

ETA: Who wants to write me Octavian/Agrippa slashfic? Eh? Eh?!
