Timequake
by Kurt Vonnegut
by Kurt Vonnegut
Enchanting as always, Vonnegut once again makes me giggle incessantly with some more repeats of the same stories I've read in other works of his. With some more exploration of the infamous Kilgore Trout and other characters, I feel it's closer to an intimate conversation with a good friend than reading a novel. A broken fourth wall. Ting-a-ling?
Fictitious or not, Vonnegut and his characters make me find solace in being part of the godless and excited about art, whatever that may mean for people. Some wonderful, simple quotes as well. A new favorite of mine: "You've been sick, but now you're well again, and there's work to do."
I also have to say, I am an emotional person but this is the first epilogue that has made me cry in a long time. What's more extraordinary about this, is it's not written to invoke that reaction.
