What a troubling book. This memoir tells the story of Margaux and Peter and their fifteen-year relationship. The catch? It began when she was 7 and he was 51. This book challenged my perceptions about pedophiles and their victims - for one thing, Margaux would never have cast herself as a victim, and was (as much as any child can truly be) a willing participant in the relationship. That said, the book does not condone or forgive Peter's actions, merely reflects their effects on a child/teenager. A rare and fascinating look inside a relationship we don't often get to explore.
