Quinn MacLeod, the youngest of the three MacLeod brothers, has been captured and imprisoned by the evil drough Deirdre. Though Quinn knows his brothers will come for him, Deirdre has upped in her game of torture and wants Quinn to give her a child. Deirdre has also captured another druid, but oddly enough she did not kill this one to drain their magic. Marcail isn't as fluent in her magic as she should be, Deirdre knows she has the spell to bind the gods inhabiting the warriors, but it's buried deep in her mind. When she's thrown in the pit, Marcail is terrified of the warriors, but Quinn saves her and soon they are bound together in their fight to end Deirdre's reign of terror.
I love this series, and love Quinn. Didn't love Marcail. She was not the sharpest knife in the drawer and couldn't follow an instruction to save her life. Most of the plot turns were a result of her not listening, thus causing really bad but totally avoidable things to happen. Everything else in the book was wonderful, wouldn't change a thing, but Marcail needs to take some Ginko Biloba and eat a lot of fish.
