This is the 17th book in the Chief Inspector Alan Banks series and it is still going strong. In this outing, there are two Mother's Day murders which may or may not be linked. The book is named for a Grateful Dead song and music plays a major role in this novel--from the music which the major characters listen to all the way to snatches of songs that are overheard during the course of the book. In this book, Banks and Detective Inspector Annie Cabbot are still trying to sort out their personal and professional relationship and each is heading the investigation of one of the murders. Because of the recurring characters in this series, the books really should be read in order. Having said that I don't think that I read the first 12. I need to go back and check those out. An interesting police procedural, but what's more interesting is the relationships described among the police officials involved.
