This first book in the donut series was a good introduction to a sleepy little town in North Carolina. The thing is these sleepy little towns seem to have more dead bodies than New York City! The characters are generally people you'd like to get to know and the side stories are interesting. Overall,a nice start to a new series.

With that said, the book reads like many of the Hannah Swensen mysteries by Joanne Fluke.
