I tried. I really did! I TRIED to like this book, but it was so tediously boring! I felt like I was slugging my way through the first 150 pages or so. The last 50 pages of the book really picked up and had some interesting surprises and romantic moments, but I felt like it was too little too late.

For those who are interested, "The Blue Castle" tells the story of Valancy Stirling, a self-proclaimed "old maid" who receives some shocking news that transforms her life forever. L.M. Montgomery (of the "Anne of Green Gables" fame) spends too much time building up a story that doesn't really get told until the very end. I liked the idea for the book, just not the execution. Sorry Heidi and Cristina - I tried!

Amanda I just picked this book up from the library, yesterday. It's next on my list. You'll have to tell me how you like it!

Heidi Robbins (Heidi Reads...) I agree with you. Whenever I reread this one I start after her rebellion :)
