Alex isn't a very likeable character and really, he hasn't been for the whole series. After hearing some of Alex's past I understand him a little better, and maybe someday could even scare up some sort like for him.

I am not sure why, but I loved the relationship between Alex and the ghost. They both seemed to be on the same path, but with Alex living he still had the chance to change the course of his life.

I found it hard not to like Zoe and I even liked her and Alex together, which is odd as I didn't really like Alex. Right from the start both of them were honest with each other. I loved how Alex warned Zoe away, that he was a bad bet, that he would only hurt her. You have to respect someone who does their best to sabotage themself. They did have a weird courtship. I really loved how Alex stopped by for breakfast and how they didn't really talk about anything, it was more about the time spent together.

I loved Emma, loved how she reacted to Alex, that at times he was the one person who could get through to her. I think from the start she knew Alex wasn't alone and I am sure it brought comfort to her at time when her life was spinning out of control.

When things happened at the end with Emma I was confused, but I went back and read it again and realized what was happening and that is when the tears came. I didn't want that, it just couldn't be too late. The bickering between Tom and Alex at this point was sort of funny, but only after you realized what was going on.

The ending was bittersweet. I hated that Zoe had to face what she was going to have to, but the goodbye to Alex was great! Hopefully Alex can come clean with Zoe and that will bring her comfort.
