I found this book to be beautiful, albeit a little long. The first hundred pages were a little slow for me but picked up momentem once Marion and Shiva were born. I found all the characters were well written; even some of the unsavory ones, I still loved them all and how they pertained to the story. This is not a book that I would typically pick up on my own, but due to a friend convincing me, I'm so glad I did. I found myself immersed in the Ethiopian culture and wanting to learn more of it. It's a brilliant commingling of medicine, love, growth, pain, redemption and self discovery.
