The Feminine Mystique

This book was a fascinating read and especially interesting as America is facing a resurgence of blatant anti-woman legislation attacks. It was thought provoking and should be required reading for everyone. I also thought that her introduction was so sad, written in 1997 she is reflecting on the the 1996 election and it seemed like women were making great strides forward and that things were still very positive in this country. How did we get so off course since the 90's? Makes it seem clear that we are experiencing a backlash to progress.
The only chapter I am not sure about is the chapter in which she takes on homosexuality. It is an outdated chapter that draws on assumptions that are not true. I wish she'd gone back and revised that chapter in the 90s or at least acknowledged it in her introduction.
Anyway, I recommend this book to everyone. It is so important to see where we have been and to realize the reality of how things were and are for women and men in our society.
