Yes -I get the idea. But I just could not escape the feeling of tuning in to a soap opera a month after you watched it last and - alas - you didn't miss a thing. Round and round and round we go - never getting anywhere - and so much of the book seemed the same. Possibly this was meant to be. But the message of our misguided quest for freedom doesn't really hit home to me either. I get it - but I did not see this acumen and insight into human nature that this book is lauded for. Frankly, I have read better treatises on contemporary life. I love the idea of looking at the juxtaposition of our lust for freedom with our need for intimacy. But there are no solutions, no tools for personal growth, and it may be completely jibberish to some when the theme could have been life altering. I did not find this book to have very many redeeming qualities - but I appreciate what he was attempting.
